We supply our CNC flycutting lathes to companies
who value precision and accuracy above anything else including
components manufacturers for defence, automotive and optical industries.
Mistakes are simply not an option for our customers and that why
our range of flycutting lathes guarantee rotational accuracy better
than ±2 seconds of arc.
Our machine, the BS1720P has been specifically
designed and manufactured for the production of single or multifaceted
optical components using natural diamond to produce supreme surface
finishes and dimensional accuracy. The BS1720P is an ultra-precision
two axis machine with an optional rotary and inclinable table to
provide a further two axis for the machining of polygons.

The work pieces are mounted onto the machine and
either held using a vacuum system or by means of a mechanical arrangement.
The horizontal flycutting spindle can be manually adjusted to remove
material from the surface of the work piece. Pre-installed program
settings mean that the machine can left unattended whilst the machine
diamond flycuts the mirror. Flycutters up to 500mm diameter can
be used on this machine.

 |
The CNC control system is windows based rendering
it compatible with standard operating systems, making it extremely
easy to use. |
 |
The machine is adaptable and can produce
both plano and multi-faceted components. |
 |
The BS1720P is built on a synthetic Granite
material and incorporates a pneumatic vibration mounting system. |
 |
The BS1720P incorporates the latest remote
diagnostics software so our engineers can monitor the machine. |
 |
The flycutting head incorporates air bearing
technology which offer high levels of stiffness and trueness
of rotation. |

As with all our machines, Bryant Symons provide
a full training program for machine operators, plus operation manuals
and on-going technical support.
We offer an extremely flexible approach to the
design and manufacture of the planoform machines which you won't
find elsewhere. We tailor planoform machines to your individual
needs - so you get the machine that's exactly right for your business.

Bryant Symons planoform machines are used to manufacture
components for the global defence industry, particularly aerospace,
missile manufacture, and thermal imaging systems. Other areas include
the medical and optical industries, lenses and mechanical parts.
Planoform machines have many potential applications within the commercial
industry eg the manufacture of seals, bearings and plastics.
