"The Bryant Symons Passenger Cabin Window Machine
is capable of producing an optical quality window without the need
for further polishing."
Chief Development Engineer, British Airways
Part of the experience of passenger travel is
enjoying the beautiful view of the clouds from the window. All major
airlines recognize the importance of maintaining scratch free windows
but many refurbishment houses have traditionally had to resort to
manual labour to cut the window surfaces and remove 'crazing'. This
is time consuming, labour intensive and often an expensive process.
So what's the solution?
The Bryant Symons aircraft window refurbishment
machine solves the problem as it has been specifically designed
to reduce process time. The machine harnesses the use of robot loading
and control to cut 20 aircraft windows in just under three hours.

The refurbishment machine uses diamond technology
to achieve a fine surface finish on acrylic aircraft windows. Each
window is loaded onto the machine either manually or by robot control
and is held in place by a vacuum to ensure a flat machining surface.
A flycutting head then uses three single point diamond tools to
create a rough, medium and then final cut, removing up to 0.5mm
from the surface of the window in one pass.

 |
Diamond machining ensures a finer finish
than grinding or polishing - providing a more durable finish
for each window and reducing the need for frequent repairs. |
 |
Diamond tools are hardwearing and can complete
up to 100 passes before they require relapping which makes them
very cost efficient. |
 |
The machine is extremely flexible and can
accommodate any size passenger aircraft window - an indispensable
function for aircraft refurbishment houses who deal with more
than one airline. |
 |
The control system's automatic programme
includes a pre-operative check to calculate the thickness of
each window - reducing the need to measure and calculate manually
thus saving man-hours. |
A remote diagnostics service is supplied with
the machine - enabling the operator to contact our customer service
department for operational advice and support if required.
Bryant Symons produce three models of refurbishment
machine:
BS3-700R - full automatic cycle with robot loading
BS3-700A - full automatic cycle, manual load
BS3-700M - manual control, manual load

We provide a full training programme to machine
operators, operations manuals plus on-going after sales support
and spares. The remote diagnostics service also enables machine
operators to contact us whenever they require additional advice.

The aircraft window refurbishment machine is used
by in-house refurbishment facilities of global airlines including
British Airways, United Airlines and South African Airlines. The
machine can also be used by dedicated out-of-house refurbishment
facilities as it can accommodate the passenger windows of any type
of aircraft.
